WASHINGTON — Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) summoned reporters to his workplace on Tuesday to disavow his friendship with Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) in an uncommon, emotional and direct press convention.

Facing a number of accusations of sexual assault, Swalwell deserted his marketing campaign for governor of California over the weekend and introduced he would resign from the House of Representatives on Monday.
