Newsletter from The Good Life France in Angers | EUROtoday

Good morning,
I hope that you just and yours are nicely.
I’m simply again from an immersion course in Aix-en-Provence (and my French is vastly improved!) and beautiful Angers within the Loire Valley – a metropolis with plenty of secrets and techniques, which after all I’ll be telling you about within the subsequent challenge of The Good Life France Magazine.
I got here dwelling to a cacophony of barking from my 4 canine, meows from my 5 cats and squawks, squeaks and clucks from my chickens, plus an invite to dinner from my buddy Gaspard.
Gaspard is in his late seventies and lives a part of the 12 months in a fort in Ardennes and a part of the 12 months in a run-down outdated cottage in a village close to mine.
Wherever he goes, he’s all the time accompanied by his greatest buddy Gaston – a 36-year-old parrot. Living in a fort has given Gaston delusions of grandeur. He loves nothing higher than to shout at folks and scream insults about with abandon. “C’est moi le chef” (I’m the boss), Gaston shrieks, or “ferme ta geuele” (shut the hell up!), “Je suis le roi” (I’m the king), he cackles and whistles, yells and yippees, whoops and wails – he’s not often quiet and infrequently impolite. Gaspard lets him rule the roost fairly actually – no less than more often than not.
Gaspard is a fabulous prepare dinner, although generally I’ve doubts about consuming one thing he has ready since he lets his feathered buddy fly round unfettered; and water for the cottage comes from an usually uncovered nicely within the backyard. But when meals is served, then Gaston is confined to Gaspard’s bed room as a result of, says Gaspard, ‘he, like me, is a meals critic, and he’ll need to style slightly of the whole lot you could have and if he does not prefer it he’ll chew you.’ Gaston will be heard screeching from behind the closed door – “merde, fou” insults and swear phrases galore, or “je t’aime, je t’aime” (I like you I like you), pleading to be set free.
An night with Gaspard and Gaston is rarely boring and I’ll let you know extra about the way it goes tonight within the subsequent e-newsletter!
Meanwhile, I want you a great weekend from my sunny and reasonably quirky little nook of France.
Kisses
