BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Isak Andic, the founding father of Spanish trend model Mango, has died after struggling an accident, the corporate stated on Saturday.

“It is with deep regret that we announce the unexpected death of Isak Andic, our non-executive chairman and founder of Mango, in an accident that occurred this Saturday,” Mango CEO Toni Ruiz stated in a press release, with out offering particulars.

Spanish information company EFE and different media shops, together with La Vanguardia newspaper, stated Andic died following a fall whereas mountaineering close to Barcelona.

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez paid tribute to Andic on social media, lauding his “hard work and business vision that transformed a Spanish brand into a global fashion leader.”

Andic’s household moved from Turkey to Spain when he was younger.

He opened Mango’s first retailer in Barcelona in 1984 and over the next many years helped Mango develop into one among Europe’s main fast-fashion makers.

Mango has 2,700 shops in 120 markets world wide.

It set an organization report of three.1 billion euros ($3.2 billion) in gross sales in 2023. It is at present increasing within the U.S. and plans to have 65 shops there by the top of 2025.
