Twelve communities, below warning for temperatures of as much as -12.4° in Cuéllar | Spain | EUROtoday
Twelve communities – Castilla y León, Navarra, Aragón, Cantabria, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Extremadura, Murcia, Valencian Community, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands – wakened this Wednesday below warning resulting from freezing temperatures, with particular incidence in Castilla y León , the place the extent is orange in Soria and Segovia (necessary threat, the second on a scale of three) resulting from minimums of at the very least -10°, experiences the Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The trigger of those low temperatures is “a mass of very cold and dry air of continental origin from northern Europe,” explains Aemet spokesperson Rubén del Campo. At eight within the morning, it reached -12.4° in Cuéllar (Segovia) and -10.5° in Molina de Aragón (Guadalajara) and there was frost close to the coast, with 0.6° in Alicante and 0.2° on the University of Palma de Mallorca, factors out the Aemet. The frosts, though not as intense as of Thursday, will proceed for the rest of the week and, dealing with the top of the week and the start of the following, “there could be a change in weather,” Del Campo advances.
To start with, this afternoon, the skilled particulars, “there will be no major changes in temperatures with respect to those of previous days”, so they may stay “around 10° or somewhat below in much of the interior of the north and from the east of the Peninsula.” The Aemet does not expect rain, except in Melilla, although it will tend to subside in the afternoon.
Thursday will be a day again with widespread frosts, although “much less intense than on earlier days.” In fact, the agency spokesperson points out, “it will no longer drop below -5°, except in isolated points on the northern plateau and central moors, as well as in high mountain areas.”
The main novelty of this day will be “the arrival of a storm from the Mediterranean, which is able to improve instability on this sector, with showers within the Balearic Islands and on the japanese coast of the peninsula.” Showers that can be stormy and locally strong in the afternoon in points in the south of the provinces of Valencia and north of Alicante. In addition, it could snow from about 700 meters in these areas of the peninsular Mediterranean and in Mallorca. Once again, this is a dana without serious consequences. “The word dana does not have to be synonymous with torrential rains and in this case it is not,” recalls the Aemet spokesperson.
On the warning map, the communities under cold warning will be reduced to seven and there will no longer be any orange warning. These are Andalusia, Aragon, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia (there is also a warning for bad seas), Extremadura and the Valencian Community (also under a warning for rain).

Friday can be “a day very similar to Thursday, again with showers in the peninsular Mediterranean area, which could go a little further inland, and also showers in the Balearic Islands.” Again, the showers might be regionally sturdy, particularly in components of the Valencian Community, with snowfall from 700 or 800 meters. Snowfall may additionally happen once more in Mallorca.

There will solely be three communities left below a chilly warning, in all circumstances yellow: Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha and Catalonia. In addition, there can be a yellow warning for unhealthy seas within the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Murcia and the Valencian Community and, once more, for rain within the latter group.
During the weekend, the dana will transfer away and steady climate will prevail in most of Spain, though “fronts will start to strategy from the Atlantic, which is able to go away rain in Galicia on Sunday after which within the following days within the west peninsular”. Temperatures will drop somewhat on Friday and rise over the weekend. However, frost will continue in much of the interior of the peninsula, with around -4° in points of the Northern plateau.
