Fox News’ John Roberts on Wednesday confirmed a touch of optimism over a brand new inflation report — earlier than shortly including a sobering caveat about what it not noted.

Roberts famous the “surprising news” that headline inflation is “down to 2.8% year over year” with “the core inflation rate at 3.1%.”

“That is good news in anyone’s books,” he declared.

Roberts’ colleague Brit Hume agreed, saying: “It is, but it’s not a huge drop, but it’s big enough to matter to people, I think.”

“The main thing is that it wasn’t an increase at a moment when inflation has been remarkably persistent despite the fact that the Biden administration under which it began has gone now,” Hume argued. “So, obviously, any good news on this front is welcome to everyone. We’ll see how it plays out in the weeks ahead.”

Roberts, although, then issued warning about what could possibly be to return.

“But there’s perhaps a ticking time bomb out there because February there were no tariffs in place,” he famous.

“They’re all starting to take effect now,” he stated of the tariffs that at the moment are being applied in retaliation to Trump’s by the European Union and Canada, with the previous’s “specifically targeted to try to hit the president” the place it hurts in GOP-held states.
