Jeremy Corbyn has accused Rachel Reeves of not going far sufficient to tax excessive earners in her Budget.

The chancellor introduced an extension to the freeze on earnings tax thresholds, that means extra earners will quickly be made to pay additional tax by “stealth”.

The resolution to freeze tax thresholds on this Budget from 2028/29 onwards, to assist fill a £20bn black gap in public funds, will increase £8bn in 2029-30 and drag one in 4 employees into the very best tax band. An additional 780,000 individuals can pay tax for the primary time.
