Parts of the M66 have been closed in each instructions after flooding, and a crash has induced disruption on the main motorway.

The incident occurred between Junction 1 and the A56 junction close to Ramsbottom in Greater Manchester after the street turned submerged by heavy rain and downpours within the wake of Storm Bram.

Traffic tracker Inrix added: “M66 Southbound closed, long delays due to flooding and accident from A56 (Ramsbottom Junction) to J1 A56 Walmersley Road (Ramsbottom). Sensors show northbound has been released.”

An official Met Office climate warning is in place till 3pm in the present day, warning folks across the nation of comparable disruption.
