It Sure Looks Like The Trump Administration Is Trying To Cover Up A Killing | EUROtoday
Within hours of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent fatally taking pictures 37-year-old mother Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem instructed Americans she already had all of the solutions.
“It was an act of domestic terrorism,” Noem introduced throughout an unrelated press convention on the Texas border on Wednesday.
Good, who had not but been recognized, “attacked [ICE agents] and those surrounding them” and “attempted to run them over and ram them with her vehicle,” Noem continued.
It was the primary indication that President Donald Trump’s administration can be enjoying offense, not protection, over the taking pictures, by demonizing Good and pushing Minnesota authorities out of the FBI’s probe into the taking pictures.
As Noem spoke, footage of the incident was already circulating, and it didn’t again up her authoritative rhetoric about what unfolded. Multiple digicam angles confirmed masked ICE brokers approaching Good’s automobile because it partially blocked a highway, grabbing on the door deal with, reaching by way of the open window of her car after which an officer (recognized by The Star Tribune as Jonathan Ross) taking pictures her useless at shut vary as she tried to drive away from the brokers, who, for probably the most half, lack authorized authority to arrest U.S. residents.

A witness to the incident instructed HuffPost Good was “obviously scared” and making an attempt to get away from the brokers. No video of the incident reveals Good trying to run over officers; it reveals her turning her wheels away from them within the last moments of her life. It’s not clear if Good’s automobile made contact with the agent, who was seen in video footage strolling away from the scene.
But whilst further footage of the incident emerged all through the day, Noem ramped up her claims, baselessly suggesting Good was concerned in a “coordinated” group that had been “trained and told how to use their vehicles to impede law enforcement operations.”
Family instructed Minnesota Public Radio that Good was on her manner residence from dropping her 6-year-old son in school when she encountered the ICE brokers. She was not an activist and was not identified to be concerned in protests, household mentioned.
As the day wore on, extra members of the Trump administration piled on the demonization of Good.
“[T]he woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense,” Trump claimed on Truth Social. It’s “hard to believe” the officer who killed Good is alive, he continued.
Trump didn’t again down when pressed by The New York Times, calling it a “vicious situation.”
Vice President JD Vance slammed her as “a deranged leftist who tried to run him over” on social media. He doubled down throughout a Thursday press convention, claiming with none proof: “That woman was part of a broader left-wing network to attack, to doxx, to assault and to make it impossible for our ICE officers to do their job.”

In one other social media publish Thursday, he known as reactions to her demise “preposterous” and mentioned Good’s demise was her personal fault.
Echoing Noem and Vance, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt leaned into the conspiracy principle discuss on the press convention with Vance, saying the taking pictures occurred due to a “larger, sinister left-wing movement.”
The rhetoric has outraged Democrats and stunned at the least one Republican.
“I was surprised at the level of certainty in her comments … most times you don’t draw definitive conclusions like she did in that press conference while the scene is still being processed,” Sen. Tom Tillis (R-N.C.) mentioned of Noem to HuffPost on Thursday.
Little Hope For Accountability
The Trump administration is denying state and native officers any entry to the investigation into the taking pictures, providing little hope for a non-partisan probe into what occurred.
“They don’t have any jurisdiction in this investigation,” Noem mentioned Thursday. She then railed towards Minneapolis and Minnesota officers for not doing sufficient to help ICE.
Her remarks got here after Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Superintendent Drew Evans launched an announcement saying the U.S. legal professional’s workplace has barred it from taking part within the federal investigation.
“Without complete access to the evidence, witnesses and information collected, we cannot meet the investigative standards that Minnesota law and the public demands,” Evans wrote. “As a result, the BCA has reluctantly withdrawn from the investigation.”

It’s inconceivable for Minnesota to do its personal investigation with out the federal authorities’s cooperation, the state’s Department of Public Safety commissioner Bob Jacobson defined Thursday.
“They do have all the evidence in the original investigative notes and reports. We have none of that. They have shared none of that with us,” he mentioned. “We would welcome the opportunity to jump back in to … find the answers that the public deserves. Without any of that information, without any of that assistance from the FBI or the federal government, we would be at a loss to be able to initiate and conduct a thorough investigation.”
Noem mentioned Thursday she’s already assured the investigation will clear the ICE agent of any wrongdoing.
“We have expected all the policies and procedures of review will be exactly that he acted appropriately to protect his life and the life of his colleagues,” she mentioned Thursday when requested to share extra details about him.
Following Noem’s remarks, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) mentioned getting a good consequence from an investigation into the taking pictures “feels very, very difficult” now.
“I say that only because people in positions of power have already passed judgment, from the President to the Vice President to Kristi Noem, have stood and told you things that are verifiably false, verifiably inaccurate,” a despondent Walz mentioned at a press convention. “They have determined the character of a 37-year-old mom that they didn’t even know.”
