Birmingham Airport diverted incoming flights resulting from an influence outage that affected a radar system. The technical glitch, which occurred within the early hours of Monday, January 12, resulted in solely departing flights having the ability to function from the airport.
The drawback at a National Air Traffic Service’s (NATS) radar website additionally brought on important delays. Several flights have been rerouted to East Midlands Airport and Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport, The Mirror reported.
“Due to a technical issue with NATS’ radar that serves Birmingham Airport, only departing flights are currently operating, with some delays,” a spokesperson mentioned.
“All arriving flights are currently suspended. We apologise for the delay to customers, and we are working closely with NATS to rectify the issue,” the spokesperson added.
