Thousands of Monzo prospects have reported having difficulties accessing the financial institution’s cellular app.

Platform outage monitor Downdetector noticed greater than 4,000 studies from customers complaining of issues on Thursday afternoon.

The firm has acknowledged “experiencing an issue” with its app – an online web page displaying the standing of Monzo companies says the agency is “continuing to investigate this issue”.

A Monzo spokesperson stated it had activated a back-up banking service which meant prospects may nonetheless make card funds.

“After identifying some issues we instantly activated Monzo Stand-in – our fully independent backup bank,” they advised the BBC.

“As a result customers can still make payments with their card, withdraw cash, freeze their card, send and receive bank transfers and more.”
