Bundeswehr troopers arrived in Greenland – WELT | EUROtoday
The Bundeswehr exploration workforce landed on the Arctic island of Greenland along with troopers from different European international locations. A airplane with the women and men landed on the airport within the capital Nuuk, as a dpa correspondent reported.
According to the Defense Ministry in Berlin, the troopers are purported to examine circumstances for joint navy workouts. Norway, Sweden, Finland, Great Britain, France and the Netherlands, amongst others, are sending troopers.
The query is whether or not the Arctic is protected and to what extent Germany and its NATO companions can contribute to this, stated the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense in Berlin. The German workforce – 15 women and men – consists of logisticians and specialists from completely different areas.
The exploration mission is led by Denmark, to which the island, which is essentially coated in ice, belongs. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly made it clear that America needs to annex the island – which the European NATO companions vehemently reject.
