The world’s oldest picket instruments – seemingly courting again 430,000 years and presumably utilized by Neanderthals or early human ancestors – have been uncovered in Greece’s Megalopolis basin. Researchers say the spindly stick used for digging and a handheld chunk of wooden, presumably used to form stones, give a uncommon glimpse of early human know-how.
