Three fraternity members at a public college in Arizona have been arrested on hazing costs following the dying of a fellow pupil, police mentioned.

Officers discovered an 18-year-old Northern Arizona University pupil, whose title has not been launched, unresponsive at a house close to the varsity’s campus Saturday morning, in response to the Flagstaff Police Department. He was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

Now, three college students and govt board members of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity have been arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on prison hazing costs, police mentioned.

After executing a search warrant on the house and interviewing witnesses, investigators found the 18-year-old had attended a “rush” occasion on the college’s Delta Tau Delta fraternity on Friday night.

“Alcohol consumption was reported to have occurred by numerous individuals in attendance, including pledge candidates, which includes the deceased male,” police mentioned.

The police division recognized the fraternity members as 20-year-old Ryan Creech, vp; 20-year-old Riley Cass, treasurer; and 20-year-old Carter Eslick, new member educator.

It’s unclear if the three college students have retained attorneys. The Independent was unable to determine their attorneys for remark.

School officers referred to as the coed’s dying a “devastating loss” in an announcement launched Saturday. They additionally acknowledged the fees in opposition to the fraternity members, and mentioned the incident occurred at an “off-campus residence associated with the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.”

“We want to be clear: The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priorities. Violence, hazing or any other behavior that endangers others has no place at NAU,” the varsity’s assertion reads.

The college has suspended Delta Tau Delta because the investigation continues.

Detectives will now coordinate with the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office to find out the coed’s reason behind dying, the police division mentioned.

More than 25,000 college students attend Northern Arizona University, which has greater than 20 places throughout the state. Its primary campus is situated in Flagstaff, about 150 miles north of Phoenix.
