Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned that “Moscow has not yet received any communication from New Delhi regarding the refusal to buy Russian oil. This was reported by the Ria Novosti agency.
The note comes after US President Donald Trump announced on Monday his intention to reduce tariffs on India from 25% to 18% following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to renounce imports of Russian oil.
However, Moscow said it had not yet received any statement from New Delhi regarding its refusal to buy Russian oil. “We have not yet received any statement from Delhi on this issue,” Peskov told reporters.
Russia respects India-US relations, but does not attach less importance to the development of a strategic partnership with India, the senior Russian official then explained.
