Sarah Knafo on the Rural Coordination stand at the agricultural show, in Paris on February 21, 2026.

Sarah Knafo made it a significant argument in her marketing campaign for mayor of Paris: the Reconquest candidate! prides itself on carrying the “most ambitious project”, “encrypted with the greatest rigor”. A “manifesto for a happy city” of 130 pages, written in giant sort and wrapped in a e book with a brilliant yellow, shiny and inflexible cowl. A cautious studying of this work, nevertheless, reveals a dangerous calculation, between underestimated bills and unrealistic financial savings.

One of its flagship tasks is the development of a “magnificent walk” two kilometers above the embankment lanes which it intends to reopen to automotive visitors. As detailed in World Bernard Landau, city planner and honorary architect-voyeur for the City of Paris (who employed him till 2014), the venture raises a number of regulatory and technical issues.

The banks of the Seine are listed as UNESCO world heritage websites, due to this fact protected, and the venture would contain “the felling of more than 100 large trees”. The candidate assures that this may be constructed “with a very simple structure” : “a portico supported on a line of arches on the Seine side and on the existing quay wall on the street side”. But for Mr. Landau, “this is not possible: this wall is not intended to support a portico, unless it is reinforced”particularly since it’s “laid on the current track on the bank, itself placed on piles which will certainly need to be consolidated”.
