Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid was joined by former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng and journalist Kevin Maguire on in the present day’s instalment of the ITV information programme when she took purpose at Chancellor Rachel Reeves within the wake of her “strange” Spring Statement, which she delivered on Monday within the House of Commons.

“It jogged my memory of a kind of Iraqi politicians throughout the battle, like Comical Ali, whereas Baghdad is burning within the background, they usually simply go, ‘It’s all high quality, we’re successful.’

“The Chancellor didn’t seem to rewrite her statement on the basis of the economic shock which is happening behind us…”
