Qatar has introduced plans to evacuate residents dwelling close to Washington’s embassy in Doha after Iranian retaliatory assaults on the Gulf nation. “Relevant authorities are evacuating residents living in the vicinity of the US Embassy as a temporary precautionary measure,” Qatar’s Interior Ministry wrote on X. “They have been provided with adequate accommodation as part of the necessary preventive measures,” it added. Previously the ministry had urged residents to “stay inside their homes and buildings” and to “avoid going out unless necessary”. An Iranian ballistic missile hit a US navy base in Al-Udeid, 40 kilometers southwest of Doha on Tuesday, Qatar’s Defense Ministry mentioned. Qatar earlier mentioned it had thwarted assaults on Hamad International Airport.
