The largest airline within the Gulf, Emirates, is resuming flights at scale – regardless of its hub at Dubai airport being the goal of an Iranian assault.

Following recent drone strikes within the UAE metropolis, flights had been briefly suspended on Saturday and passengers had been taken into tunnels on the airport, which is generally the busiest international hub on this planet.

But Emirates mentioned it could proceed to ramp up its operations to and from its hub at Dubai.

The provider mentioned in a publish on X that it expects a swift return to normality, saying: “The airline anticipates a return to 100 per cent of its network within the coming days, subject to airspace availability and the fulfilment of all operational requirements.

“Safety, as ever, remains paramount as is our duty of care.”

“Following the partial re-opening of regional airspace, Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule while working to restore full network operations.

“We are accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority. Customers should only proceed to the airport if they have a confirmed booking.”

Emirates is prioritising hyperlinks to the UK and India. Signalling a return to industrial operations reasonably than repatriation flights, the provider is promoting tickets for its flights between Dubai and eight British airports.

London Heathrow is receiving a number of each day arrivals, with tickets on sale for flights from Dubai from Monday 9 March onwards.

Test bookings made by The Independent present the next departures as being the primary on sale from different UK airports:

  • Birmingham: 6.40am on Friday 13 March
  • Edinburgh: 2.10pm on Thursday 12 March
  • Gatwick: 1.35pm on Tuesday 10 March
  • Glasgow: 6.40am on Tuesday 10 March
  • Manchester: 1.45am on Friday 13 March
  • Newcastle: 6.45am on Wednesday 11 March
  • Stansted: 8.15am on Sunday 15 March

While Emirates is ramping up hyperlinks to and from Dubai, Virgin Atlantic is suspending flights. Its Saturday arrival to Dubai from London Heathrow turned again due to the newest Iranian assault on the airport.

Virgin Atlantic plans yet another outbound flight to Dubai and the inbound return earlier than suspending operations on the route for the remainder of the season.

Qatar Airways plans to function six passenger flights to its hub at Doha on Monday 9 March, together with from London Heathrow. The airline stresses these flights are “only for passengers whose final destination is Doha” and says: “Passengers are kindly asked not to arrive at their departure airport unless they hold a valid confirmed ticket for travel.

“These flights do not constitute a confirmation of resumption of scheduled commercial operations.”
