Sarah J Maas’ meteoric success seems to be to soar even increased along with her launch of her sixth and seventh A Court of Thorns and Roses books.

The best-selling writer dropped the bombshell on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, leaving followers counting down the times till October 27.

But the query now – is what’s set up for Tamlin, Feyre, Rhysand, Nests and Elain? Fans have some wild theories and Maas stored tight lipped about any concepts Cooper put to her on the podcast.

The books look to be mammoth – with Maas telling Cooper: ”It’s simply the story that was lastly prepared to come back out of me was massive—actually, actually, actually massive.

“And as I started writing this in, like, Montana, like energy vortex, it came out of me in a way that surprised me. I like to do like parts—like part one, part two, part three—by the time I got to the end of part one, it was like 400 pages long.”

Maas’ mention of a “vortex” could also be an Easter Egg right here for a idea that Cooper put to the writer. Cooper requested her if the pool of Starlight within the Spring court docket is a portal. Many followers assume this can be the case due to starlights heavy affiliation with Rhysand and the Night Court.

The pool which Tamlin encourages Feyre to swim in in book one is believed to be made of pure magic, or “liquid gentle”. Legend suggests that if someone drinks from it, they will live happily until their last breath.

Maas kept tight lipped on the theory and refused to confirm or deny it. One Redditor has a slightly different idea. They wrote: “I saw a theory on TikTok that I wish I would have paid a little more attention to that theorized the pool of starlight was possibly where Rhys’ sister/mother were “buried” or had something to do with them.”

Maas is also known for connecting the worlds of her different books such as her Throne of Glass series – people have hypothesised that this is a portal into that world.

Feyre’s mother

It’s not difficult to think the story of Feyre’s dead mother is an unlikely one. In a story that has already taken so many twists and turns – surely Maas would not leave this golden thread unexplored?

One Redditor noted: ”’Feyre’, Amarantha notes that her name is an old Fae name. (Suspicious)”. Cooper asked Maas if “Mama Archeron” was one of the Iron Teeth Witches – a clan from her Throne of Glass series. Interestingly, Maas failed to confirm or deny.

Another Reddit user wrote: ”I think the Archeron mom was descended from the Ironteeth witches. Elide was essentially human, but she had witch blood that Manon and Asterin scented. The witches only have two powers outside of the yielding. Some can see, like Baba Yellowlegs, and others can create magical objects, like witch mirrors. My theory is that when Elain and Nesta were thrown into the cauldron it unlocked their witch powers.

“Elain being a seer and Nesta creating made objects. Rhys also said that part of Nesta’s power was pure death, which is essentially what the Yielding is as well. The girls also slept in an ironwood bed, which is what they Ironteeth made their brooms from.

“There’s also all of the references about Nesta being a witch. The witches also worship with three faced goddess. The sisters mirror hers with Feyre being the mother, Elain being the maiden, and Nesta being the crone.”

Elain and Tamlin

A controversial theory considering Tamlin’s treatment of Elain’s sister in book two, is that Elain and Tamlin will end up together.

On Reddit consumer wrote: “I have a kind of out there theory that Elain will end up with Tamlin (probably part of his eventual redemption arc). It’s such a divisive topic of whether Elain will end up with Lucien or Az, and I just thought it would be just like SJM to give us two love interests and go with neither of them?

“I personally want Elain to be with Az but I have a feeling she will somehow, for some reason, end up with Tamlin.”

However, Maas has made it clear that she values what Tamlin’s relationship with Feyre has shown her readers. She told Cooper she has seen friends leave abusive marriages after the scene where Tamlin traps Feyre in his house.

She stated any revisiting of Tamlin or any “redemption arc” must be handled very sensitively as she doesn’t need to undo or complicate what that relationship proved to he readers.
