The hearth service confirmed they’re tackling a “scrapyard fire”.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson mentioned: “Shortly after 10.30am on Wednesday (1 April), we responded to Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, Birmingham.

“At current, 11 hearth engines, a hydraulic aerial platform and a 4×4 brigade response automobile are in attendance, crewed by round 60 firefighters from Kings Norton, Bournbrook, Northfield, Woodgate Valley, Highgate, Smethwick, Aston, Aldridge, Erdington, Handsworth and Haden Cross stations. Further assets are anticipated on the scene.

“This is a significant scrapyard fire, which has created a large smoke plume in the area. Because of this, if you live or work nearby please close your windows and doors.

“Traffic is disrupted, so please keep away from the realm while we work on the scene.”
