Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) confronted a wave of boos and criticism from his constituents at a city corridor occasion on Sunday as he tried to defend his assist for President Donald Trump’s unpopular Iran struggle.

As Lawler hopes to fend off Democratic challengers to retain his U.S. House seat in November, the Republican confronted questions over why he and others in his occasion rejected an effort that might have directed Trump to finish the struggle final month.

“The fact is the president is well within his authority to conduct the strikes that have been conducted,” Lawler stated as a wave of boos erupted within the viewers, per The Washington Post.

Lawler, who reportedly scolded the group for performing worse than “high school students” within the auditorium earlier within the occasion, was later accused of getting “abdicated” his duty to his constituents in New York.

“You have in fact endangered our young people, our service members of our country and killed civilians by not standing up to Trump on this unjustified war,” stated Marion Walsh, a self-described army mom and daughter.
