In the first months of the full-scale war, the focus of the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories was on humanitarian corridors, evacuation of civilians, and humanitarian aid. The team of the Ministry also dealt with the issues of prisoners of war, said Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk.
During the 100 days of the war, 165 humanitarian corridors took place – about 300,000 people were evacuated. Regions with a difficult humanitarian situation received assistance: 6.5 thousand tons of food and medicine. As a result of 14 prisoner exchanges, 408 Ukrainians returned home from captivity.
In the future, the main priorities are internally displaced persons, deportees, missing persons, and civilians held hostage in russian prisons. “The main priority is internally displaced persons. We are talking about millions of Ukrainians. Our task is to mobilize public resources, as well as all possible international resources, and direct them to support IDPs: housing, employment and social protection,” Iryna Vereshchuk added.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted: “The first months of the war made the Ministry a rapid humanitarian response team. We want to stay that way.”
