Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 cast list details exciting classic Marvel hero return

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is just a few weeks away, but the film’s plotline is still a relative mystery. While the High Evolutionary is the main antagonist, Adam Warlock is another force of nature Star-Lord and his team will need to battle. But they may not be doing it alone, according to the film’s cast list.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 introduced a collection of older Ravagers for the first time. These classic characters were not only used as a way of sending off Yondu after he died, but also to expand the Ravager collective in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Some of the biggest Ravagers were shown off in a post-credits scene, which revealed Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar alongside other aliens, making up what were the original Guardians of the Galaxy in the Marvel comic books. These space warriors were originally 30th-century fighters who battled evil in the comic book multiverse.

In the cameo, Stakar was stood with other major Guardians heroes, including Martinex, Aleta Ogord, Charlie-27, Mainframe and Krugarr.

And the cast list for Volume 3 hints that these classic Marvel heroes are making a comeback.

As pointed out by ScreenRant, Stallone is in the cast list for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. And, once again, he is billed as Stakar on IMDB.

What’s more, Martinex actor Michael Rosenbaum is also on the cast list. Considering two of the team members are returning, it is very likely the rest of the original Guardians will be coming back as well.

One major character will likely not make a return, however: Aleta Ogord, another Ravager captain.

Aleta was played by Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. But since then, Yeoh took on a new role in the MCU: Ying Nan, the aunt of the protagonist in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Considering she has now taken on a much larger part in the MCU, she will likely not play a space pirate as she did before.

Although fans may want to find out more about the Ravagers and their return before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas, director James Gunn already issued a stark warning to Marvel viewers.

Gunn recently pointed out that there may be spoilers around the internet leading up to the cinematic release and to exercise caution until then.

Gunn explained: “It might be wise to be careful what you’re reading on social networking sites starting at the end of April if you want to avoid spoilers for #Vol3.”

He added: “That said, I don’t think your enjoyment of the film will be diminished much by knowing them.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas on May 5.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 are available to stream on Disney Plus now.
