After a successful testing period for pre-order customers only, Blizzard is about to make Diablo 4 beta available to everybody. The Diablo 4 open beta has a March 24 release date on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The open beta ends a few days later on March 26. According to Diablo 4 developer Blizzard, the action begins at 4pm GMT for fans living in the UK. To ensure you don’t miss a second of the action, you can actually pre-load the Diablo 4 open beta right now. This means you’ll be able to jump into the action the moment the servers go online.
To download the demo on PS4 and PS5 , just search for the Diablo 4 beta on the PlayStation Store and select the download option. It’s the same on Xbox, where it’s just a matter of searching for the beta on the Store.
If you’re looking to play the open beta on PC, you’ll need to launch the Battle.net client and search for Diablo 4.
Blizzard explains more: “Once you get to the Diablo 4 Game Page, click the dropdown menu under Game Version and select the Diablo 4 – Beta option. Click the blue button that says Install. The game will install and once it’s available, click Play to Launch.”
It’s worth noting that you don’t need to download anything if you still have the early access beta installed.
Another positive is that PlayStation Plus and Xbox Gold subscriptions aren’t required to take part in the open beta weekend. You will, however, need a membership to access some of the multiplayer features. Required PC specs can be seen further down the page.
In terms of content, the open beta contains an early portion of the campaign, including the Prologue and entirety of Act 1.
Players can explore the Fractured Peaks, taking part in various mainline missions and side quests.
“Make your mark on Sanctuary by clearing hellish hordes from dungeons, completing intriguing quests provided by the locals, and amassing powerful loot from fallen foes,” Blizzard explains.
Character classes include the Barbarian, Rogue, and Sorcerer from the early access beta, as well as the newly added Druid and Necromancer for the open beta. You can reach a maximum character level of 25 during the beta period.
The Ashava boss battle also makes a return during the open beta, complete with massive loot drops for victorious teams.
Described as a “whirlwind of pestilence”, Ashava will appear 5pm GMT and 7pm GMT on March 25, as well as 6am BST and 8am BST (the clocks go forward this weekend) on March 26.
