Police in Edinburgh had been attacked with “fireworks, petrol bombs and other projectiles” by a bunch of youths with riot squads in place to cope with the anti-social habits on Sunday.

The incident reportedly occurred in Hay Avenue in Niddrie as folks gathered to rejoice Bonfire Night.

Police Scotland stated that Specialist Public Order sources had been deployed to the world as a part of Operation Moonbeam. This transfer is geared toward supporting native police within the space.

An announcement issued by Edinburgh Police said: “We are currently dealing with an incident of significant disorder in the Hay Avenue area of Edinburgh, which began around 4.40pm this afternoon.

“Reports had been obtained of a lot of youths concerned within the anti-social use of fireworks and native officers requested assist from the #OpMoonbea specially-trained Public Order rescue.

“Police in attendance are currently being subjected to attacks involving fireworks, petrol bombs and other projectiles and the public is asked to avoid the area while the response is ongoing.

“There are a lot of native street closures in place and we’ll advise when these will re-open. The public is thanked for his or her help with this matter.”
