Ovingham rescue LATEST: Major search operation after boys seen struggling in river | UK | News | EUROtoday

A significant rescue operation is underway in Northumberland this night, after two boys had been seen in problem within the River Tyne. There is a big emergency companies presence round Ovingham bridge right this moment (May 18) following studies of two individuals within the water.

Police obtained a report at round 3.30pm this afternoon that two boys had been in problem within the water close to the bridge.

Northumbria Police, Northumberland Fire and Rescue and the North East Ambulance Service are on the scene.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson stated: “We were called to reports of concerns of two people in the water in Ovingham at 3.30pm this afternoon (18 May).

“We dispatched our full Hazardous Area Response Team as well as two ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader and an officer. We also requested support from Great North Air Ambulance Service. We are currently still on scene.”
