The £37 portion of fish and chips in Harrods being slammed by livid critics | UK | News | EUROtoday

A £37 portion of fish and chips served up in London is being slammed by livid critics.

A TikToker visited Tom Kerridge’s Fish and Chips in luxurious division Harrods, and was shocked at what he discovered.

Food content material creator James Dimitri shared his expertise on TikTook of the restaurant which sells a portion of Cornish brill with chips for £52, whereas lobster can value as much as £80.

Part of his “tourist trap” sequence, Dimitri claimed that the meal was not definitely worth the cash, saying the fish was “leaking water all over the plate”.

The video prompted a storm on-line and garnered over 1,000,000 views in lower than per week of it being posted.

One viewer stated: “As much as I like Tom Kerridge, he won’t be seeing me anywhere near there.”

The restaurant’s menu boasts the £37 ‘market day fish’, which is ‘caught from day boats in Cornwall’, ‘coated in Kerridge’s gluten-free batter and served with chips, Matson curry sauce, tartare sauce and pease pudding’.

James stated: “Northerners, look away now. Hell, Londoners, look away too. I went to Harrods to try Tom Kerridge’s £37 fish and chips.”

To kick the meal off, James ordered a beer, saying: “First of all, even the cheapest beer was £9.50.”

He continued: “Here’s the fish and chips, it comes with a total of nine whole chips as well as a curry sauce, pea puree, and tartare.

“The batter was nice and crispy, and fish seemed fresh, but the fish was small, and it kept leaking loads of water all over the plate. Non-stop leakage.

“The chips were nice but not elite. I also paid £6 for a bread roll to make a little chip butty. This was pretty good but probably set me back a tenner after adding two chips.”

The meals content material creator concluded: “Was it worth it? No. It’s got a 3.3 Google for a good reason.”

He added within the caption: “Tourist Trap reviews are back, baby. I went to Kerridge’s Fish & Chips by @cheftomkerridge at @harrods. Fish & chips with a bread roll and two beers cost me £70.”
