On October 16, 2020, Professor Samuel Paty was assassinated by an Islamist in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines), after displaying caricatures representing Mohammed throughout a course on freedom of expression. Three years later, one other professor, Dominique Bernard, suffered the identical destiny, this time in Arras, within the north of France. A nationwide tribute was paid to them on Monday.
