Menendez brothers’ uncle breaks with household to say he ‘firmly believes’ they need to by no means be freed | EUROtoday

In a latest present of — principally — solidarity with their kin, relations of the Menendez brothers held a press convention to precise their perception that the lads had been victims and the monsters they have been portrayed as in media and by prosecutors.

The occasion was the biggest gathering of the Menendez household since Eric and Lyle Menendez had been sentenced for killing their mother and father in 1989. The brothers claimed their mother and father had been molesting them and that the murders had been self-defense. Prosecutors disagreed, arguing that the boys killed their mother and father for an inheritance.

The brothers had been finally convicted and sentenced to life in jail with out the potential for parole. They have appealed their rulings quite a few instances and have relied on the advocacy of sympathetic members of the family and others within the public sphere.

That advocacy continued throughout Wednesday’s household press briefing with one exception: an uncle who thinks the boys are proper the place they belong behind bars and that they need to keep put.

Milton Andersen, the brother of Eric and Lyle’s mom, Kitty, despatched a authorized consultant to the household gathering to make sure his ideas had been heard. His lawyer, Kathy Cady, spoke to native broadcasters through the occasion.

Mr Andersen firmly believes that his nephews weren’t molested,” Cady said. “He believes that could be a fabrication and he believes that the motive was pure greed.”

She said her now 90-year-old client wants to see his nephews live out the rest of their lives in prison for killing his younger sister.

There is a question over whether or not the brothers will remain locked up; earlier this month, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon announced that his office is reviewing possible evidence included in petitions filed by the brothers last year claiming that their father had molested them, and noted that the results of that review could see the brothers walk free.

He said the claims are being reviewed and that none of the information in the petition has been confirmed. The new information will be discussed at a hearing scheduled for November 26.

Gascon made clear that, depending on the court’s decision, the brothers could “walk out” of prison.

“Until we get there, we’re not sure yet which direction this will go,” he said.

Andersen, speaking through Cady, said he hopes “no matter resolution is made, that it is not politically pushed, that it actually is finished due to the fitting causes.”

She also said her client has felt a bit sidelined by Gascon and his office as it seeks to review the evidence brought forth by the Menendez brothers.

“Mr. Andersen understands that he isn’t going to be the one who’s going to have the ability to make the ultimate resolution, however he desires to ensure that the one who does make that last resolution does not neglect about him,” she mentioned.

Andersen reportedly despatched a letter to Gascon asking for a gathering, however he has not obtained a response.
