Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu selected the previous navy commander, Eli Sharvit, as the subsequent director of the interior safety service (Shin Bet): his workplace has introduced it. “After conducting large interviews with seven qualified candidates, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to appoint the former navy commander, Admiral (in reserve) Eli Sharvit, as the next director of the Shin Bet”, reads a press launch.
Sharvit has served for 36 years within the IDF (the Israeli armed forces), 5 of which as a commander of the Navy. “In this position, he guided the construction of the maritime defense force in economic waters and managed complex operating systems against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran,” mentioned the prime minister’s workplace.
“Shin Bet is an organization with many merits,” says the prime minister’s workplace, “who suffered a serious trauma on October 7th”. Netanyahu, continues the word, “is convinced that Sharvit is the right person to guide the Shin Bet on a path that will continue the glorious tradition of the organization”. At the start of March, the Supreme Court suspended the dismissal of the present head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, pending the appeals towards the federal government’s resolution to be examined.
