After a 19-month interruption resulting from a landslide within the Maurienne Valley within the French Alps, the rail hyperlink between Paris and Milan resumed Monday morning, with nearly full trains departing from the French capital. The first two TGV trains left the Gare de Lyon in Paris for Milan at 6:46 a.m. after which at 9:46 a.m., taking simply over seven hours to achieve the Lombard capital, passing via Macon, Chambéry, Modane, Oulx and Turin.
