People have been suggested to “shop around” in a bid to economize

Citizens Advice has urged individuals in Cornwall to “seek help at an early stage” if they’re scuffling with the price of residing.

Gas and electrical energy payments went up for tens of millions of households on 1 April when the most recent power worth cap took impact.

Wailim Wong, from Citizens Advice in Cornwall, mentioned demand was beginning to enhance, including extra individuals have been anticipated to return ahead in a couple of month.

“If you’re falling behind… seek help at an early stage from Citizens Advice or another charity,” he mentioned.

‘Keep afloat’

“What tends to happen is people just try and keep afloat and keep going for as long as possible.

Mr Wong said the organisation would be stopping its drop-in sessions across all of its Cornwall offices for six months following a demand on its phone services.

“We’re stopping what we name the drop-in periods…

“We’re going to use those six months to recruit more volunteers and more advisors.

“After these six months we can return to doing that face-to-face.”

Mr Wong said face-to-face appointments would still be available.

He issued advice to those who may be struggling with finances, urging them to “store round”.

“There are offers on the market, generally they’re fairly substantial.

“Spend a bit of time… going through your household budget.

“What’s coming in each month, what is going on out, the place can I make some financial savings?”
