After an accident parliamentary journey, a bill to prohibit telephone canvassing and fight against various fraud with public aid was definitively adopted on Wednesday, May 21. Already validated by the deputies on May 14, the text, from the joint joint committee, was voted by the senators without any voice against. It should be promulgated shortly, no doubt after an examination by the Constitutional Council – the elected officials of rebellious France have announced their intention to file an appeal.
It is a two-in-one law that is about to enter into force. It comes from the late merger of two law proposals relating to fairly distinct subjects. One, carried by the deputy Thomas Cazenave (Renaissance, Gironde), aimed to fight against certain fraud with public aid. The other, initiative of the senator of the Aisne Pierre-Jean Verzelen (the self-employed and territories), targeted the canvassing. For the sake of efficiency, the Senate agreed to integrate its text by amendment in that of the Assembly, which benefited from an accelerated procedure decided by the government. So that in a few months, the proposal went from 4 articles to 35.
