Four individuals have been arrested by police investigating the cyber-attacks which have prompted havoc at M&S and the Co-op.

The National Crime Agency says a 20 yr previous lady was arrested in Staffordshire, and three males – aged between 17 and 19 – have been detained in London and the West Midlands.

They have been apprehended on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act offences, blackmail, cash laundering and taking part within the actions of an organised crime group.

All 4 have been arrested at their properties within the early hours on Thursday. Electronic units have been additionally seized by the police.

Paul Foster, head of the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit, stated the arrests have been a “significant step” in its investigation.
