New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) on Tuesday ripped a reporter for asking if a Politico report on racist, antisemitic rhetoric in a Young Republicans group chat mirrored “some bad apples” or whether or not there’s “toxicity” in the whole GOP.

“Some bad apples? These are the future of the Republican Party,” replied Hochul throughout a press convention.

“This is so vile it’s hard to find the words to put into context that these are people who are part of a political party — one of two major parties — and they believe in gas chambers and rape and discrimination based on the color of people’s skin. These are racist, sexist, disgusting remarks.”

Hochul’s feedback arrived simply hours after Politico reported that leaders of Young Republicans teams shared texts through Telegram referring to Black folks as monkeys and “the watermelon people,” referring to rape as “epic,” writing about placing political foes in fuel chambers and praising Adolf Hitler.

The reported messages — which noticed members involved that they’d be “cooked fr fr” if the texts ever leaked — included members from Young Republicans teams in New York, Kansas, Arizona and Vermont.

The reported texts have led to Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and New York state Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt (R) calling on these within the chat to step down and, since Politico’s inquiries on the chat, one chat member is not employed at their job whereas one other had a job provide taken away from them.
