Betting agency Paddy Power is to shut 57 outlets throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland, after a evaluation of its excessive avenue property.
It has confirmed that 247 employees are susceptible to redundancy, with 128 of these within the UK and 119 within the Republic of Ireland.
A complete of 29 outlets are to shut within the UK, together with one in Northern Ireland, with 28 to go within the Republic.
Flutter UKI mentioned affected employees can be “offered redeployment opportunities where possible”.
“However, the closures will unfortunately lead to a number of job losses,” a spokesperson added.
The agency mentioned it was “consulting closely with colleagues and providing support to those affected by these changes”.
A spokesperson mentioned the choice was made in gentle of accelerating price pressures and difficult market situations.
“We are continually reviewing our high street estate, but it remains a key part of our offer to customers, and we are seeking to innovate and invest where we can as we adapt to different customer trends and needs,” they added.
