Democrats Taunt Texas GOP After Gerrymander Scheme Flops | EUROtoday

A federal district courtroom’s ruling this week on a Texas redistricting scheme was unhealthy information for Republicans, and some Democratic politicians have been blissful to allow them to comprehend it.

Back in August, at President Donald Trump’s behest, Republican officers within the Lone Star State enacted a brand new congressional district map forward of the 2026 midterms to create 5 new House seats favoring their celebration.

But a panel of federal judges in El Paso dominated 2-1 on Tuesday that redrawing the congressional districts would hurt Black and Hispanic Texans.

“Substantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map,” in response to the ruling authored by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey V. Brown, a Trump appointee.

The information comes after California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) pushed for a poll initiative to permit California’s state legislature to enact its personal redistricting scheme favoring Democrats, and California voters accepted it on Nov. 4.

Other Democrats piled on on the information.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), who would have needed to run for a distinct workplace or totally different district below the proposed Texas map, predicted: “Old Don bout to be BIG MAD!” earlier than including that she couldn’t be happier for Trump and “his flunky, Abbott.”
