Stratford recycling firm Unimetals recordsdata for liquidation | EUROtoday

Recycling firm Unimetals, which has dozens of websites throughout the UK, has filed for liquidation.

The firm’s head workplace is in Stratford-upon-Avon, and has websites scattered across the nation, together with London, Halesowen, Staffordshire, Greater Manchester and Devon.

It is unclear when the agency will go into liquidation, and what number of jobs are in danger.

“We have worked tirelessly to explore every possible option to secure new financing for Unimetals Recycling (UK) Ltd, with the aim of meeting our financial obligations and safeguarding the future of the business,” a spokesperson stated on Monday.

“This included an accelerated [Mergers and Acquisitions] process, supported by our advisers and undertaken in full collaboration with stakeholders, to identify potential buyers or investors.

“Regretfully, regardless of substantial curiosity and makes an attempt at finishing a deal, no transaction was concluded.”

Consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has stepped in to assist with next steps.

Unimetals said it recognised how distressing the news was for its employees who had “labored tirelessly” since it took over Sims Metal’s UK-based business in 2024.

“Their dedication, ability, and resilience are the spine of this enterprise,” the statement continued.

“Our precedence now could be to work intently with all stakeholders together with workers, suppliers, prospects, collectors, and our regulators to make sure that the liquidation course of is managed safely, responsibly, and transparently.

“We are working urgently to agree on a clear plan and timeline for what happens next.”
