Trial of man who crushed egg on Jordan Bardella’s head postponed to January 9 | EUROtoday

The trial of the 74-year-old man prosecuted for having crushed an egg on the pinnacle of Jordan Bardella, Saturday, throughout a guide signing in Moissac (Tarn-et-Garonne), was postponed, Tuesday, December 2, to January 9 by the Montauban legal courtroom, on the request of the defendant. He was taken into custody on Saturday for “violence against a person holding public authority without incapacity”.

Tuesday morning, the defendant’s lawyer, M^e Rachel Lheureux, spoke of an act motivated by the desire to“raise awareness”before adding: “ten years ago we were Charlie, today we are Jean-Paul”referring to the first name of the accused.

On Monday, the Montauban public prosecutor’s office requested the placement in pre-trial detention of the septuagenarian after a prolonged period of twenty-four hours in police custody on Sunday. But the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) did not follow the prosecution’s requisitions and the septuagenarian appeared free on Tuesday morning.

This man had already been convicted for similar acts in July 2022, having crushed an egg on the head of Eric Zemmour while the latter, Reconquest presidential candidate, was campaigning in Moissac. He was then given a suspended fine of 500 euros.
