Benin authorities overthrown by troopers in obvious coup | EUROtoday

A gaggle of troopers has introduced the dissolution of Benin’s authorities in an obvious coup.

It is the newest in a collection of coups in West Africa.

The troopers made the announcement on Benin’s state TV on Sunday morning.

The group, which known as itself the Military Committee for Refoundation, introduced it had eliminated the president and all state establishments.

President Patrice Talon has been in energy since 2016 and was because of step down subsequent April after the presidential election.

Benin’s ruling coalition had nominated Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni to be its candidate, positioning a person seen as a key architect of its financial insurance policies to pursue the administration’s present reform agenda if elected.
