Executive producer Christopher Keyser stated of the collection: “This first chapter of The Abandons is a classic American story — the frontier, two families both at war and in love with each other, [and] a battle over who owns the land and who makes the rules.

“In the center of homicide and revenge and a little bit of illicit romance, we get to discover questions we by no means appear to get away from: What makes a household? How do you keep good in a nasty world? And would you modify who you’re and what you consider in to guard what you like?

It followed the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club operating in Charming, a fictional town in California’s Central Valley. The Abandons may be a prequel to Sons of Anarchy, with links hinted at by the main characters’ last name “Teller”.

Sons of Anarchy acquired very beneficial critiques over the course of its run, with many singling out Katey Sagal’s efficiency. On the overview aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the collection holds a mean score of 87%, with a rating of seven.9/10.
