A person has been arrested by police following an incident at a hospital after 5 individuals have been reportedly injured. The man in his 20s was detained at Newton Community Hospital in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside this afternoon, police confirmed. Wintesses reportedly noticed a person carrying a steel bar assault employees and sufferers shortly after noon.
Five individuals have been injured, based on an area councillor, however they’re now “safe and are able to contact their families”. St Helen’s Police wrote on X: “We are currently dealing with an incident at Newton Community Hospital in Newton-le-Willows. A man in his 20s has been arrested. Officers remain at scene.
“We will present an additional replace as quickly as out there. Please observe our social media accounts for updates.”
Councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron added on Facebook: “There has been an incident at Newton Hospital. Around 5 individuals have been injured.
“All of which are now OK and safe and are able to contact their families. Do not speculate on Facebook. The Police have still cordoned off the scene so avoid the area.
“I want to placed on document my thanks and appreciation for Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for the unbelievable job they do.”
