In an interview given to Fox News following his assembly with American President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu downplayed the settlers’ violence within the West Bank, stating that it was “a group of kids” who had been “doing things like cutting down trees and sometimes trying to burn down a house”, thus underlining that he was dedicated to creating “a special effort” to cease this phenomenon.

According to a number of media stories, the White House has expressed concern about Israeli coverage within the West Bank, particularly settler violence and settlement enlargement, asking Netanyahu to vary his line.

“It’s very exaggerated, we’re talking about a group of kids, about seventy, who don’t come from the West Bank,” Netanyahu stated in response to a query concerning the rising settler violence that threatens stability. “These are youngsters who come from destroyed households and who do issues like minimize down olive bushes and typically attempt to burn down a home. According to the latest data released by the UN, since the beginning of 2025, over 1,700 settler attacks have been documented, causing victims or material damage in more than 270 communities in the West Bank, with “a mean of 5 incidents per day”.

The Israeli prime minister then contested “the false symmetry between these youngsters and over a thousand tried terrorist assaults in opposition to settlers: households, moms driving on the roads with their kids”, underlining: “I’m making a particular effort to cease this vigilantism.”
