Members of the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) marketing campaign have issued a stark warning to ministers, cautioning them of potential ‘nationwide outrage’ of their newest message. This comes as campaigners persistently urge people to pen letters to their MPs, demanding compensation for girls impacted by alterations to the State Pension.

The marketing campaign’s purpose is to dispatch a million letters to the federal government, imploring them to offer the compensation they consider they’re due. This follows intently on the heels of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirming its intention to rethink a compensation determination for WASPI ladies.

Previously, the DWP selected to not adhere to earlier parliamentary ombudsman suggestions of awarding payouts starting from £1,000 to £2,950 for every individual affected, a transfer that ignited fury amongst campaigners. Instead, the case was scheduled to proceed to the High Court in December, nonetheless, a brand new evaluate has postponed this, with a call now set to be introduced in February.

Why the DWP decision to not compensate was held back

Last November, Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden revealed that a previously unseen document from 2007 had surfaced, which his predecessor, Liz Kendall, had not been privy to. As a result, the decision to deny compensation was put under scrutiny.

However, he emphasised: “Retaking this determination shouldn’t be taken as a sign that the Government will essentially determine that it ought to award monetary redress.” The DWP is anticipated to declare its decision by 24 February.

WASPI chair Angela Madden stated: “WASPI ladies are ready to struggle tougher than ever earlier than to hunt the justice we deserve over the following few weeks. But we’re not simply asking Nineteen Fifties ladies themselves to assist.
