The US has condemned Moscow’s use of a nuclear-capable Oreshnik ballistic missile in Ukraine throughout an emergency assembly of the UN Security Council.

Last week’s deployment of the medium-range missile — which didn’t carry a nuclear warhead — “constitutes a further dangerous and inexplicable escalation of this war, just as the United States is urgently working with Kiev, other partners and Moscow to end the conflict through a negotiated solution,” Deputy US Ambassador to the UN Tammy Bruce advised the Security Council.
