Local councillor Tamoor Tariq has issued a press release on the incident immediately. He mentioned the household dwelling on the property have been “deliberately targeted with a petrol bomb and have been left “shaken” by the attack.
In a statement on social media, Councillor Tariq said: “I’m very sorry to share that within the early hours of this morning a home on South Terrace, simply off Kendal Drive, was intentionally focused with a petroleum bomb.
“This was an appalling and extremely dangerous act. I can confirm that, thankfully, everyone living in the property is safe, as are the neighbouring family. However, the impact has been devastating. The damage to the home is extensive and the family have lost everything, personal belongings, clothing, electrical items, and irreplaceable memories.
“I’ve spoken straight with the household affected and their fast neighbours this morning. They are understandably shaken by what they’ve skilled, however are being supported.
“Residents will have noticed a significant police presence in the area. This will remain the case for a number of days. A full investigation is under way and this incident is being treated with the utmost seriousness. Let me be absolutely clear: this was an act that could easily have resulted in loss of life. Those responsible must, and should, face the full force of the law.
“I’m asking native residents, significantly these round Central Avenue, Kendal Drive, Radcliffe Road, Derwent Drive, Keswick Drive and surrounding streets, to please test any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from round 1.55am. Even the smallest element might be essential in serving to the police determine these accountable.
“My thoughts are firmly with the family affected. Acts of violence like this have no place in our community, and I will continue to work closely with the police, the council and partners to support residents and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
