A meals charity has delivered nearly 100,000 meals in Kirklees previously 12 months, saving struggling households an estimated £740,000.

The Bread and Butter Thing (TBBT) has additionally supported greater than 8,500 members within the borough as a part of its pledge to “make everyday essentials affordable”.

The charity’s meals hubs are situated at faculties, neighborhood centres and church halls and promote wholesome consuming – 80% of its packs are made up of contemporary fruit, greens and chilled produce.

A spokesperson stated: “Our hubs make nutritious, affordable food available while reducing waste and bringing communities together.”

TBBT stated in 2025, native volunteers contributed 17,907 hours by serving to to run weekly periods and there have been no referrals or disaster thresholds, so “anyone can join”.

Councillor Beverley Addy, Cabinet Member for Public Health at Kirklees Council, stated: “Kirklees residents who shop with The Bread and Butter Thing saved a combined total of over £741,000 in 2025 – a vital boost during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.”

The meals hubs may be present in Berry Brow, Crosland Moor, Cowlersley, Dalton, Deighton, Thornhill Lees, Chickenley, Heckmondwike, Liversedge and Batley, in response to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
