Master storyteller Jeffrey Archer has revealed he has written his last novel on the age of 85 after promoting some 300 million copies of his books. Exactly half a century since his debut, Not a Penny More, Not A Penny Less, launched him as a author, Adam and Eve might be his thirty second and final novel.
The 85-year-old former politician admitted he couldn’t fairly think about placing down his pen for good after ending his final ebook. “When I came across the idea for this novel a few years ago, I knew it was bigger in scope than anything I’d done before and I accepted that the research alone would be more demanding than anything I’d tackled in the past,” Archer mentioned.
“When I finally sat down to write Adam and Eve I also realised, by the end of the first draft, that this was going to be my final novel, as at the age of 85 I could never hope to equal it again. As I celebrate my fiftieth year as a storyteller, and look to the future, I can’t quite imagine putting my pen down for good – I also love the short story form so maybe I will return to that at some point in the future – but can think of no more fitting way to bring my novel-writing career to a close.”
He added: “My hope is that my readers will enjoy Adam and Eve as much as I have enjoyed writing it.”
Famously having been impressed to put in writing his first ebook, Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, by the specter of chapter, the ebook went on to promote almost 30 million copies all over the world.
