Kemi Badenoch rejected Nigel Farage’s suggestion that his occasion represented the “genuine centre-right of this country” at a gathering of Tory MPs final night time.
The Conservative chief stated: “We are not moving leftwards, we are the party of the right and will always be a party of the right.
“We need to push again, do not let different individuals communicate for us.”
Amid Reform’s portrayal of the country as “damaged Britain”, Mrs Badenoch said: “There is loads to repair on this nation.
“A lot of stuff isn’t working, a lot is broken, but the whole country isn’t broken beyond repair.
“We want to indicate hope, aspiration and that we are able to repair issues – we’re courageous sufficient to take robust choices, and we’re competent sufficient to ship.
“Where Reform are negative about our country, we will be fuelled by positivity.”
