Vincent Bolloré will probably be summoned earlier than the fee of inquiry into public broadcasting, declares its president | EUROtoday

The president of the fee of inquiry into public broadcasting, Jérémie Patrier-Leitus (Horizons), introduced, on Franceinfo on Wednesday February 4, that he’ll summon Vincent Bolloré as “ one of the majority shareholders of Banijay »the production company of host and producer Nagui. This hearing is, according to him, scheduled for the last two weeks of February.

To the question of whether the MP will question the billionaire whose media portfolio is, in particular, made up of CNews, Europe and Sunday Newspaper (The JDD), on the maintenance of host Jean-Marc Morandini on the air despite his final conviction for corruption of minors in January, Mr. Patrier-Leitus responded that “this will be an opportunity for Vincent Bolloré to explain it, I will question him about it (…). If there are shortcomings or malfunctions in public broadcasting; I say it, but I also say it about private broadcasting. It is not normal that a person, journalist or presenter, [condamnée] permanently for corruption of minors [et] registered on the list of perpetrators of sexual offenses is kept on the air ».

CNews belongs to the Canal+ group, of which Vincent Bolloré is the major shareholder. The continued presence of Mr. Morandini on the air despite his conviction has sparked lively debates within the channel. Sunday, Philippe de Villiers, who hosts a show on CNews, and The JDD in turn expressed their disapproval of the host remaining on the air.

Jérémie Patrier-Leitus also defended himself from going beyond the framework of the parliamentary commission of inquiry: “I am not summoning Vincent Bolloré because he is the owner of private audiovisual channels, I respect the framework” of the fee.
